Cooke's-Portsmouth Newsletter, January 2008

Into a "New Year" - 2008! It really doesn’t seem possible, but it just keeps coming. The ‘holidays’ are finished and the reality of winter looms ahead of us.

I have been asked by a number of people if I am counting the days now to my ‘retirement’. The answer is an emphatic "NO" right now. We have too much work to do yet. Sure the JNAC (Joint Needs Assessment Committee) is at work and you will be hearing more from them in the New Year; but there is lots to do and I don’t officially retire until 12:01 AM

Of July 1, 2008.

I will take a reading week in January from the 20th to the 27th and get things organized for Easter which comes very early this year. Opnce Easter is past and the Anniversary is in hand the end of April, then I will think of letting go and backing off. So, don’t look for me to ‘dissapear’ in the very near future.

The JNAC under the leadership of Cheryl Pulling has been getting it’s ‘feet under it’, and I suspect you will be hearing from it a few times this winter as we move towards Lent and Easter. We also have our Annual Congregational Meetings to get through. The Stewards are, I believe, very happy about your financial support through Christmas. I don’t have the figures; but the Stewards are smiling, so it must mean something good has happened. Thank you for your support.

So, as we move toward the Congregational Meetings and the Lenten Season; may each and every one of you enjoy and prosper in the New Year of 2008.

In Christ’s Service

Walk Beside Me

Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow.

Don't walk behind me, I may not lead.

Walk beside me and be my friend.
