Our Minister - Rev. Terry R. Deline

The Reverend Terry Deline came to us in September of 1989 from the Springfield – Corinth Pastoral Charge, Elgin Presbytery, London Conference where he had been settled in 1985; a native of Kingston, he and his wife Donna and children Mary Beth and Jeremy were happy to ‘come home’. An alumni of the ‘old’ Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology (now Algonquin College) and the University of Waterloo prior to going to Queen’s Theological College for his divinity degree, he had been employed for fourteen years at the Ontario Veterinary College, Department of Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology Laboratory in a staff position.

Terry brings a long line of accomplishments to us at present, a past President of the Canadian Society for Chemical Technology; he also sat on the board of directors of The Chemical Institute of Canada and the editorial board of “Canadian Chemical News”. Terry chaired Elgin Presbytery in 1988 and in Kingston Presbytery has been chair of the Division of Administration and of Presbytery. He been President of the Queen’s Theological Alumni Association and sat on the board of management at Queen’s Theological College. Terry presently sits with the Aboriginal Council of Queen’s University and the Research Ethics Board of Queen’s University as a community member.

A life long interest in community building has involved Terry in various interdenominational and interfaith groups and events over the years, including a stint leading the ministerial in Kingston. That interest coupled with a growing interest and concern about the environment and incarnational theology has taken him and an inter-denominational group on a quest seeking the roots of Celtic Christian spirituality and its relevance for today’s world.

Outside interests in history and genealogy have led to a membership with the United Empire Loyalist Association and continuing work in that area.

Terry’s ministry by and large has been a teaching ministry committed to traditional values as expressed by biblical precepts. He has fostered an open, family oriented church that is committed to God’s work in our community.
